Most of our clients opt for this option because Uganda gorilla permits cost $700 each. This is $800 lower than the $1500 fee for Rwanda permits. The same type of gorillas in Rwanda are the same gorillas in Uganda. Besides, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is just only 4 hours away from Kigali – Rwanda and only 2 hours away from Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, Northern province of Rwanda. Please see detailed itinerary of this 2 days Uganda gorilla trekking from Kigali safari package below.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Depending on your location, be it airport or hotel in Kigali, our driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. During the journey from Kigali to Bwindi, you may have a city tour and get some history on Rwanda’s culture and history especially visiting the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Monument until you finally arrive at the hotel. You will then enjoy the atmosphere close to the home of the endangered species. You will have dinner at your hotel and relax as you get set for your gorilla trekking adventure the following day. Overnight at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge or Chameleon Hill Lodge for luxury stay and Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge for budget and mid-range stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early morning after your breakfast at the hotel, you will be met by our driver guide again who will take you to the park headquarters for your briefing meeting before you start off with your gorilla trek. This briefing is done at 7am at the headquarters and you will get to know what you are expected and not expected to do during your gorilla adventure. The gorilla trekking experience can take from 2 hours to almost half a day until the gorillas are finally met. When you finally encounter the gorillas, you are allowed one hour to admire these creatures but at a distance of 6 meters. Here you can take photos and record videos with your flashlights off.
After finishing the trek, you will go pick your respective gorilla trekking certificates, have lunch and transfer back to the airport or preferred location in Kigali by our guide to mark the end of your 2 days gorilla tour. Please note that you can trek gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park and transfer to Kigali to catch up with your departure flight on the same day. This option saves you a lot of money right from transportation, accommodation and permits. It is apparently the cheapest way to see gorillas in Africa.
